Harmonizing Hawthorn

Hawthorn berries are one of my favorite herbal remedies to work with.  Pay attention guys, you won’t want to miss this one!  They have been used as a cardiovascular tonic for centuries and have been helpful in treating irregular heart rhythms, congestive heart failure, elevated blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and even erectile dysfunction.  That’s right, guys, this herb may help if there is any difficulty in this arena.  These berries dilate the blood vessels in the heart, thus increasing blood and oxygen supply to the entire body. This can also help with improving exercise tolerance and are known for strengthening the heart muscle.

 

Like green tea and red wine, hawthorn berries are rich in flavonoids, making them a powerful antioxidant. They have also been used to soothe mental tension by calming the nervous system, helping with anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia.  Who wouldn’t want to add these berries to your daily life.

 

I always recommend being under the care of a qualified herbal practitioner (such as myself, pardon the quick advertisement) when taking herbs for medicinal purposes, but there is another easy way to add this herbal remedy to your life.  You can eat it as jelly!  Add 1 T. to your toast or PB& J and you will get a nice little dose.
